Hila Noam
Illustrator and comic book artist
I'm a Tel Aviv born illustrator, comics artist and author, as well as a lecturer at the Bezalel Art and Design Academy in Jerusalem, visual communication department. I work at my studio in Tel Aviv, specializing in acrylic and hand-made illustrations.
My first comic book for children was published in 2019 in French and Hebrew : Vadrouille, (French) by Même Pas Mal Publishers, and חוצי, (Hebrew) by Am Oved Publishing House. The book has won the 2020 Golden Duck award, named after Dudu Geve, for best comic book for children.
Drawing Power - a comics Anthology I took part in, published by Abrams Books, has won the 2020 Eisner Award for best Anthology. The NY Times chose Drawing Power as one of the ten best comics of 2019.
My work has been published on leading publications in Israel (Am Oved, Modan, National Geographic) and worldwide (Abrams Books - USA, Seven stories Press - USA, Strapazine - Switzerland), as well as in solo and group exhibitions around the world (Israeli comics museum, Holon, Fumetto comix Festival, Luzern, society of illustrators, NY). A graduate of the Visual Communication department at the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, where I majored in illustration. I'm also a member of the Humdrum comics collective, publishing comics anthologies yearly, two of which were nominated for the Angouleme Comics Festival Alternative Anthology Award, as well as the co-editor of the Misdeeds Israeli comics Anthology.
Other achievements:
Assistant-colorist in Anne Frank’s Diary - The Graphic Adaptation by Ari Folman and David Polonsky (Penguin Random House, 2018), and the Eisner award winning graphic novel The Property by Rutu Modan (D&Q, 2013).
